April 18-19th market the final days of my collegiate golf experience. It has been such an amazing opportunity to travel, compete, and enjoy the game I love almost every day. Without a doubt, I can say it has been the most influential part of my life. It seems pretty cliche to say that, but it is very much the truth.
The conference tournament was awesome. Being able to play two years in a row at Coeur D’Alene was so much fun. After last year, the course had to do some minor changes and replace EVERY green on the course, so it was in immaculate condition this year. Weather was also absolutely perfect, a warm 75 degrees all three days we were playing. External factors aside, the golf was great as well. The team played really solid and scoring conditions were definitely optimal so it took some low numbers to get on the leaderboard.
It had definitely been on my mind, getting ready to finish up my last college event, and it actually was really calming for me out on the course. I had the usual anxious excitement before hitting my first tee shots of course, but I was really able to enjoy the atmosphere and environment of a college event in a way I had never been able to before. Knowing there was no more events, it was all or nothing for me during the tournament, just trusting all the work I had put in over several years and just playing stress free golf. Talking with my teammate, Mike Delie, we both had similar sensations of really having a stress free mindset, how that would have been advantageous to have throughout our careers.. haha. We tend to put pressure on ourselves when we are competing, rather than just enjoying ourselves and playing golf. Balancing your mental game is always the biggest challenge, and it was great to have a clear head and good mindset for our last event. It was definitely icing on the cake to top off an awesome four year career in college golf.
As most of my family and friends know, golf has been a major part of my life for the last several years, dedicating time during the school year and all throughout the summer traveling, practicing, and competing in events. Those plans will continue on for the next several years if all goes as planned!
I am so thankful for all the support I have gotten from my family, they have given me all the opportunities to be successful, and continue to lift me up on a daily basis. Having that support on and off the golf course for me makes all the difference in the world for me, and is what helps keep me motivated. It is now or never for me, and looking ahead, it is time to crank up the intensity once again.
Looking back, there are so many great memories and experiences i’ve had during my career, and I will definitely never forget them. It is bittersweet but there is plenty of golf for me in the future!
God Bless,
Keynan
